Top seed University Heights Academy had little trouble moving on to the Girls’ District 8 Soccer Tournament title game with an 8-0 victory over Christian County Monday night in the tournament semifinals at UHA’s Givens Field.
Audrey Perry had a hat trick and Kendall Hancock added two goals and two assists for the Lady Blazers, who played without two starters due to sickness and injury.
UHA coach Michael Parker said his team played well, despite playing some of his younger players.
Perry started the scoring with a penalty kick after the Lady Colonels were called for a handball in the box 2:18 into the contest. Gracie Ausenbaugh made it 2-0 less than 20 seconds later.
Alyssa Grise scored to make it 3-0 near the midpoint of the first half. Perry connected on another PK with 12:14 and added her third goal with 2:20 to go in the half.
Kate Gibson made it 6-0 just before halftime.
Hancock pushed the lead to 7-0 with 37:40 to go in the game and then ended the match at 24:28 of the second half on the mercy rule.
Grise added and Cecelia Langhi each had an assist for the Lady Blazers, who improved to 13-3 on the season.
Madison Williams earned the shutout in goal.
Christian County saw its season end at 2-16-1.
The Lady Blazers will take on Hopkinsville in the championship game at 6 p.m. Wednesday night at UHA. The Lady Tigers defeated Fort Campbell 3-2 in overtime Monday night.
