Tigers run past University Heights Academy

Hopkinsville needed a district 8 win and they got it in impressive style, routing host University Heights Academy 85-44 in a boys’ District 8 basketball game Thursday night.

Hoptown was led by Jonathan Hart, who hit four 3-pointers and scored 20 points. James Bradley Jr. added 17 for the Tigers, who improved to 6-10 overall and 2-1 in district play.

The Tigers took advantage of a short-handed Blazers’ squad, jumping out to a 28-14 first quarter lead. They pushed the advantage to 50-26 at the halftime break.

Jonovan Leavell had 15 points and DeAvery Ramey added 11.

UHA fell to 4-10 overall and 1-1 in district play. Tylin George led the Blazers, who played without injured starters Tre Bell and Elijah Walton, with 23 points.

The Tigers return to action tonight in Evansville against Harrison. The Blazers will play host to McCracken County on Saturday in a game that can be heard beginning with the F&M Bank Pregame show at 6:45 p.m. on Newsradio 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP.
