Union County leads the team standings after the first day of the KHSAA State Wrestling Tournament Friday in Lexington.
The Braves scored 143 points and are leading Johnson Central (114.5) and Paducah Tilghman (95) entering today’s final day.
Christian County has 21.5 points and is in 33rd place while Hopkinsville scored 11 points and is 54th entering today.
For the Colonels, three wrestlers remain in the hunt for the podium. Dane Miller (144 pounds), Anthony Velasco (113), and Tay Martinez (165) were 2-1 on Friday and are wrestling back through the consolation bracket today.
Kevondre Young (126), Deacon Harrison (150), DeAsian Harris (190) and Treshan Crenshaw (285) were eliminated from competition on Friday.
For Hopkinsville, Jaylin Littleton won his first two matches but lost in the quarterfinals of his 165-pound division. He remains in the hunt for a podium spot today.
Juan Cannon was eliminated after going 1-2 on the day.
