Christian County had one wrestler make the podium Saturday in the KHSAA State Wrestling Tournament in Lexington.
For the Colonels, Dane Miller was the top finisher, as the junior took sixth place in the 144-pound division.
Miller went 3-2 in five matches on Saturday’s second day of the event. He lost to Dixie Heights’ Xavier Montanez 4-2 in the consolation semifinal. In the fifth-place match, Miller lost to Anderson County’s Carson Nance by Fall at 3:19.
Miller’s final record for the season was 38-8.
The Colonels sent seven wrestlers to the state tournament. Miller, Anthony Velasco (113 pounds), and Tay Martinez (165) advanced to the second day of competition.
Velasco finished 3-2 in the tournament while Martinez went 2-2.
Other Colonels competing included Kevondre Young (126), Deacon Harrison (150), DeAsian Harris (190), and Treshan Crenshaw (285).
Christian County, which sent seven wrestlers to the tournament, finished 29th with 33.5 points.
Union County won the state title with 305.5 points, followed by Johnson Central (192.5) and Paducah Tilghman (170).
