Dazey powers Colonels past Fort Campbell

For the second time in a week, the Christian County Colonels made short work of the visiting Fort Campbell Falcons in a District 8 baseball game.

On Monday, it was Sebastian Dazey who spoiled any kind of upset by the Falcons as the Colonels’ slugger had three hits, including a home run and a double to lead Christian County to a 12-1, five-inning victory.

The Colonels led 2-0 after one inning and Dazey’s homer was part of a five-run second inning that helped the hosts take a 7-0 advantage. Dazey drove in three runs on the day.

After the Falcons scored in the top of the third, the Colonels answered with four more runs in the bottom of the frame for an 11-1 advantage. Dazey had a double and Gage Montes and Preston Stokes also had key hits in the inning.

Christian County (4-2, 2-0) would add another run in the fourth for the final score.

Stokes picked up the pitching win as he struck out three and allowed two hits in two innings of work.

Montes and Stokes each had a pair of hits to help lead the Colonels’ eight-hit attack.

Michael Anderson led the Falcons (1-4, 0-3) with a pair of hits.

The Colonels had defeated the Falcons 15-0 last Monday in the season opener. Both games were played at Colonel Field due to work being done at the Fort Campbell diamond.

Christian County is scheduled to play host to No. 2-ranked Lyon County today at 5:30 p.m.
