Christian County High School is looking for a new athletics director after Trey Wheeler was selected as an assistant principal at Christian County Middle School earlier this week.
“I’ve always had aspirations to be a school administrator after my time as athletics director,” Wheeler told WHOP on Friday morning. “The time felt right, and this is the best move for me and my family at this time. I’m very appreciative of the administration at Christian County High School, Superintendent Chris Bentzel, Assistant Superintendent Kevin Crider, and Coach (Kerry) Stovall for their guidance and belief in me. I’m grateful for Christian County Middle School Principal Kristen Lindsey and this opportunity to join her leadership team.”
Wheeler is a 2006 graduate of Christian County High School and was a member of the Colonels’ 2004 state championship baseball team. He returned to his alma mater in 2016 and became the head baseball coach until 2021 when he was promoted to the school’s athletics director.
Before returning to CCHS, Wheeler was a Physical Education teacher at Pembroke Elementary School.
A search is underway for the next Athletics Director at Christian County High School.
