The Heritage Christian Academy volleyball team opened play in the Touchstone Energy All “A” State Tournament Friday in Owensboro with a pair of straight-set losses.
The Lady Warriors began play against Region 13 champion Williamsburg early Friday evening in the first pool play match and fell 25-21, 25-19.
Bralee Fowler had 10 kills and 11 digs to lead the Lady Warriors. Hadlee Hayes had three kills and 13 digs. Makenzie McCarty provided 13 assists, a block, and nine digs and Taylor Barbee had nine digs and two kills.
Later on Friday, HCA took on Region 14 champion Knott County Central and dropped the match 25-15, 27-25.
Hayes had six kills and 15 digs while Fowler provided four kills, a block, and three digs. McCarty had 12 assists, three aces, and four digs and Barbee had 12 digs.
HCA will play Region 16 winner Raceland at 9:15 Saturday morning in the final pool play match.
The top two teams in the pool advance to the championship bracket while the bottom two teams in the bracket will move into the Bronze Division Bracket. The tournament games will conclude with championship games at 2 p.m.
