The Christian County Colonels advanced to the Boys’ District 8 Soccer Tournament semifinals with a 7-2 victory over Heritage Christian Academy Saturday morning at the Stadium of Champions.
Senior Noah Davis had a career day with six goals to lead the Colonels, who will take on top seed Hopkinsville at 7 p.m. Tuesday night in the semifinals.
Davis’ first goal came with just more than 35 minutes left in the first half and he padded the lead to 2-0 at the 18:47 mark of the half.
However, HCA’s senior Kallan Davis cut the lead in half with a goal on an assist from Jerry Spurling with 9:56 to play in the first.
Christian County’s Leonardo Mora Ortega made it 3-1 as he beat HCA goalie Caden Nowak after getting behind the Warrior’s defense with 33:11 to play in the game.
But the Warriors weren’t done. Kallan Davis struck again on another assist from Spurling to draw HCA to within 3-2 at the 21:50 mark.
However, fatigue began to set in for HCA, which had only two substitutes. Noah Davis scored three goals in the next seven minutes and pushed the Colonels’ advantage to 6-2.
Noah Davis’ final goal with 3:00 left was the final score.
Edgar Galvan Crisostoma had a pair of assist for the Colonels (3-12). Cooper Fort, DaKari Harris, and Yanixan Ceja also each had an assist.
The loss ends the season for the Warriors, who finished 0-13. It also ends the career of Kallan Davis, who scored 48 goals over the last four seasons for HCA.
Tuesday night’s other semifinal matchup will feature University Heights Academy against Fort Campbell at 5:30 p.m. unless the government shutdown has not been resolved. If nothing has been resolved, the Falcons would have to forfeit.
The boys’ championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday night. All games are at the Stadium of Champions.
