The Hopkinsville and Christian County Colonels cross country team ran their final meets in their respective schools’ history on Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
Hopkinsville competed in the Class 2-A championships.
The Lady Tigers finished 21st as a team, led by the performance of senior Lauren Mayes. Mayes completed the 3.1-mile course in a time of 22:02, which was good enough for 49th place.
Teammate Alexis Herrera-Lovato was 55th with a time of 22:10.
Kaydon Coats ran the course in 25.27 to take 150th. Amerah Acree and Luanna Acree finished 177th and 216th, respectively, with times of 27:08 and 31:23.
The Lady Tigers’ Evelyn Bangart, who steadily improved all season, suffered a knee injury during the race and had to withdraw.
Hoptown finished with 551 points.
Lexington Catholic won the girls’ Class 2-A team title with 63 points. Bourbon County was second with 77 points and LaRue County took third with 160 points.
Trigg County finished 16th with 415 points.
In the boys’ Class 2-A race, Hoptown had a pair of runners earn top-60 finishes.
Tyson Cavinder ran 49th in a time of 18:08 and Savior Davis picked up a 53rd-place finish with a time of 18:13.
Christian County competed in the Class 3-A championship race.
Christian County’s Cayden Cline was the top Colonel finisher in the boys’ Class 3-A meet. He took 202nd in a time of 19:07.
Bryce Hamlin ran 216th in a time of 19:28.
The Hopkinsville and Christian County programs ended their respective programs with the race. They will consolidate next fall.
