Ezell named athletic director for new CCHS

The new consolidated Christian County High School Tigers have their first athletics director.

A news release from Christian County Public Schools on Thursday morning said current Hopkinsville High School Athletics Director Jacob Ezell has been tabbed to run athletics at the new high school.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Ezell as the Athletic Director at the new Christian County High School,” Executive Principal Ken Carver said in the news release. “With his passion for student-athletes, strong leadership, and commitment to excellence both on and off the field, Coach Ezell is the ideal leader to guide our Tiger athletics into an exciting era.”

Ezell is a graduate of Hopkinsville High School and played football for the Tigers from 2011-14. He began working as a full-time sub for HHS in 2017 and spent several years as a Hopkinsville High School assistant football coach. He began teaching at the school after obtaining his teaching credentials in 2020.

Ezell was named HHS Athletics Director in 2024.

“I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to my wife, Arlanda, and our two boys, Aiden and Jrue,” Ezell said in the news release. “Their love and sacrifices make it possible for me to do the work I’m so passionate about each day. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Ken Carver, Jonathan King, and Kerry Stovall for their trust and confidence in me to lead the new Christian County Tigers Athletics Department.”

Ezell also thanked the HHS coaches.

“It has been an honor to serve alongside you, and I look forward to collaborating with the outstanding coaching staff at Christian County as we begin this exciting new chapter together.”
