The Hopkinsville and Christian County high school swim teams opened their final seasons in history on Saturday as they took part in the Henderson Invitational in Evansville.
Led by the performances of Lily Johnston and Saralynn Major, the Lady Tigers finished fifth out of 14 teams with 126 points.
Christian County did not have any individuals earn top-10 finishes and finished 12th with 51 points.
Daviess County won the meet with 243 points, followed by Owensboro Catholic (210), Meade County (195), and Henderson County (175).
Johnston took third place in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 29.79 seconds. Johnston also finished fifth in the Girls’ 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 28.22 seconds. Major was eighth in 29.71.
Kaley Bangart took sixth place in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 36.81 seconds and Major earned a 10th-place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 43.23 seconds.
Hoptown’s 200-yard medley relay team finished fourth with a time of 2:22.22 while Christian County had a 10th-place finish in 2:45.20. In the Girls’ 200-yard freestyle relay, Hoptown finished fourth with a time of 2:04.48 and Christian County was sixth in 2:18.14.
In the boys’ meet, Hopkinsville finished 11th and Christian County took 13th out of 14 teams.
The Tigers’ 200-yard medley relay team finished eighth in 2:18.33 and the 200-yard freestyle relay team was ninth in 2:02.82.
Individually, the Tigers’ Levi Johnston finished ninth in the 50-yard butterfly in 27.30.
The Colonels’ did not have any swimmers finish in the top 10.
This weekend Hopkinsville and Christian County will play host to the Rick Cohn Invitational.
