Quarles, Tigers storm past Hopkins County Central

Hopkinsville High School got its last ever boys’ basketball season started off with a victory as the Tigers stormed past host Hopkins County Central 82-69 Thursday night.

The Tigers jumped out to a 20-11 lead after one quarter and led 40-26 at the halftime break.

Hoptown had five players in double figures led by Tashaun Quarles’ 20 points. Jonovan Leavell added 15 and Jayven Battle added 13.

The Tigers, who play Saturday against Graves County at Muhlenberg County, also had 12 points from Layton Giltner and 10 points from James Bradley Jr. in Thursday’s win.

Blaze Sumner led the Storm with 17 points.

Saturday’s game against Graves County will tip off at 4:30 p.m. with airtime at 4:15 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
