HHS, CCHS swim teams compete at Muhlenberg

The Hopkinsville and Christian County high school swim teams competed in a three-team meet Tuesday night at Muhlenberg County.

Muhlenberg won the girls’ meet with 88 points, followed by Hopkinsville with 42 and Christian County with 27.

The Lady Tigers’ 200-yard medley relay team of Brilyn Merrick, Grace Cansler, Lily Johnston, and Evelyn Bangart took first place in 2:19.64. Christian County was third in 2:52.66. The Lady Colonels included Addison Peck, Addison Renshaw, Macy McGinnis, and Lia Beckham.

Cansler took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:18.82 and second in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:06.15.

Hopkinsville’s 400-yard freestyle relay team took second place in 4:58.18. The team included Johnston, Kaydon Coats, Brooke Ebbinger, and Cansler.

Christian County’s 400-yard freestyle team of Renshaw, Peck, Gracelyn Clark, and McGinnis took third in 5:33.65.

Johnston also took second place in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:19.95.

Individually for the Lady Colonels, Clark took first place in the 500-yard freestyle in 7:00.36 and Alyssa Mace was first of the 100-yard backstroke in 1:08.55.

Lia Beckham was second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:25.99.

In the boys’ meet, Muhlenberg County took first place with 114 points, followed by Hopkinsville with 23 and Christian County with 13.

Hoptown’s Levi Johnston took second place in the 200-Yard I.M. in 2:28.22 and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:05.48.

Owen Lockhart took second place in the 500-yard freestyle in 7:09.84.

The Tigers’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of Simon Lockhart, Luke Johnston, Owen Lockhart, and Levi Johnston finished second in 4:47.15.

Muhlenberg County won the overall title with 202 points followed by Hopkinsville with 65 and Christian County with 40.
