Bowling Green’s Jooni Strow hit a pair of free throws with 1.8 seconds left and lifted the visiting Lady Purples to a 40-39 girls’ high school basketball victory over Christian County Tuesday night.
The Lady Colonels, who trailed most of the game, got a steal in the inbounds pass and took a 39-38 lead on a basket by Anaysia Bagwell with 7.6 seconds remaining.
The basket came seconds after Genesis McGee had turned a steal into a three-point play to cut the Lady Purples’ lead to 38-37.
Christian County had trailed by nine points with 2:00 remaining before staging the dramatic comeback.
The Lady Colonels defeated the Lady Purples 41-40 last year on a last-second basket in Bowling Green.
Bagwell led Christian County, which slipped to 2-3 on the season, with 14 points. McGee added 10. Kori Ware scored all 13 of her points in the second half for the Lady Purples, who improved to 4-2 on the season.
Christian County returns to action Thursday night against Todd County Central in Elkton.
