The Lyon County Lyons used a dominating performance from its two main stars to roll past host Christian County 74-54 Thursday night in a boys’ high school basketball game.
Bray Kirk and Nolan Coffman scored 28 of the Lyons’ 31 third-quarter points and blew open a close game at the half. Kirk finished with a game-high 29 points and Coffman added 20 as the Lyons improved to 11-5 overall with their fifth straight victory.
Christian County played without its top three guards as Zion Acree, Jay Henderson, and Josh Bridges all missed the game due to injuries. Tom Johnson scored 11 points to lead the Colonels, who have dropped three straight games to fall to 7-8 on the year.
Lyon County pushed its lead to as many as 34 in the fourth quarter before the Colonels were able to cut into the lead against reserves late in the game.
