Moore, Hunt send Blazers past FCHS on Senior Night

University Heights Academy took over second place in the District 8 basketball standings and celebrated Senior Night with an 80-69 victory over visiting Fort Campbell on Tuesday night.

Keshawn Moore scored 36 points and senior Hayden Hunt added 20 as the Blazers improved to 6-10 overall and 2-1 in district play.

Kayn Simmons added 11 points for the Blazers, who return to action Thursday night at home against Caldwell County.

The victory moved UHA a half-game ahead of Christian County in the district standings. The two teams play Feb. 12 at Blazer Gym.

The Falcons, who are coached by UHA graduate Austin Byrum, trailed only 23-22 after one quarter. But fueled by the play of Moore and Hunt, who combined to score 19 points in the second quarter, the Blazers took a 44-37 halftime advantage.

UHA was able to continue to expand its lead into the third quarter, 65-52.

Fort Campbell was led by Kyre Ferguson, who hit 10 of 15 three-point shots and scored a career-high 34 points. Tyreek Anthony added 22 for the Falcons, who fell to 6-12 overall and 1-2 in district play.
