3 Colonels grapplers remain alive at state tournament

Three Christian County High School wrestlers competing in the KHSAA State Wrestling Meet remain alive in their respective brackets heading into Day 2 of the event at the Alltech Arena in Lexington.

Christian County’s Dane Miller (144 pounds), DeAsian Harris (190), and Treshawn Crenshaw (Heavyweight) will continue their wrestling today with each already in the consolation bracket.

Miller won his opening match 10-2 before dropping his second match, despite leading late. He bounced back to win his third match 16-5.

Harris lost his opening match, but recovered to win his next two matches by a combined score of 29-11. Crenshaw also lost his first match but rebounded to win the second 13-4.

Paul Abren (150 pounds) and Deacon Harrison (157) went 1-2 in the tournament. Brodie Smith (175) went 0-2 at the state tournament.

Union County leads the team standings after Day 1 with 135.5 points, followed by Boyle County (89.5), Paducah Tilghman (88.5), Madison Central (72) and Martin County (70).

Christian County is 40th with 16 points.
