Hopkinsville High School is the home of a state champion today.
Junior Keyshun Teal took first place in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.99 seconds in the Class 2-A KHSAA State Indoor Track and Field Championships Thursday in Louisville.
The Tigers’ Kayden Humphrey finished ninth in the race with a time of 8.94 seconds.
It was an impressive day for Hoptown, who also saw sophomore Willie Ennels finish seventh in the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.38 seconds.
Senior Savior Davis also had a Top-10 run on Thursday, as he took ninth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:06.68.
Hoptown’s 4×400-meter relay team of Jaylen Ray, Carlo Jones, Ennels, and Thomas Laliberte finished ninth in 3:43.75.
The Tigers finished 14th out of 28 teams in the team standings.
For the Lady Tigers, senior Alexis Herrera-Lovato took 10th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:35.99.
Lauren Mayes finished just out of the Top-10, taking 11th in the 3,200-meter run in 12:31.12.
