We are only a week into the 2026 high school softball season and the Christian County Lady Colonels already have secured the top spot in May’s District 8 tournament.
The Lady Colonels improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in District 8 by routing host Fort Campbell 19-0 in three innings on Tuesday.
Christian County scored 10 runs in the first inning with the big hit an inside-the-park home run by Alondra Rodriguez.
The Lady Colonels made it 18-0 in the second inning, scoring eight runs on only four hits. Aly Grant had a two-run single in the frame.
Alyssa Petterson picked up the pitching win for Christian County as she tossed a one hitter and struck out five batters in two innings. Ashlyn Miller pitched the final inning.
Chelsey Cooper suffered the pitching loss for the Lady Falcons, who committed five errors behind their pitcher.
Petterson, Chloe Almy, Alexis Epps, and Rodriguez each had a pair of hits for Christian County.
Tristin Caldwell had the lone hit for Fort Campbell, which fell to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in district play.
Things get tougher for Christian County, as the Lady Colonels travel to take on Lyon County Thursday.
