Logan County scored six runs in the first inning and added five in the seventh frame and shocked No. 7-ranked University Heights Academy 15-8 Thursday night in a high school baseball game at Chris Simmons Field.
The Cougars led 10-1 after three innings as the Blazers struggled at the plate and in the field. For the game, UHA finished with seven hits, but four errors.
The Blazers tried to rally, cutting the lead to 10-7 entering the top of the seventh inning, but Logan used four hits, two walks and an error to push its lead to 15-7.
UHA added its last run in the bottom of the seventh when Cadence Gibson scored on an error.
Ryan Luckey had three hits for UHA, which saw its eight-game winning streak halted.
The Cougars had 15 hits in the game and improved to 4-6 on the season.
The Blazers (9-2) are scheduled to play Altoon, Ill., at 7 p.m. tonight.
