The Christian County High School track teams had an impressive day in the rainy Calloway County Laker Invitational Saturday in Murray.
Both the Colonels and Lady Colonels finished fifth in their respective meets. Twenty-six schools from three different states were represented in the meet.
For the Colonels, it was another impressive weekend for Satona Bailey, who took first place in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash.
Max Ray ran fourth in the 400-meter dash and Levar Daniel took fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.
The Colonels’ 4×100-meter relay team of Satona Bailey, Karmelo Bailey, Paul Abren, and Daniel took second place. Meanwhile, the 200-meter relay team of Abren, Landrien Banks, Tavarous Haskins, and DeAsian Harris finished seventh.
The 800-meter relay team of Cayden Cline, Ray, Bryce Hamlin, and Mason Clark ran fifth. Christian County’s 400-meter relay team of Satona Bailey, Cline, Chy Harris, and Ray took eighth place.
In the field events, Harris had a second-place leap in the long jump and Haskins was eighth.
Jimmarion Byrd took fourth and JD Telensru was sixth in the shot put. Frank Irving was fifth in the high jump.
The Lady Colonels’ Symeria Brown led the Lady Colonels with three of first-place finishes. Brown took first place in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Jazmyn Rodriguez was fifth in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
Brown also broke the tape in the 400-meter dash while teammate Shyla Haverstick was ninth.
The Lady Colonels’ 100-meter relay team of Genesis McGee, Adreyona Smith, Jazmyn Rodriguez, and Kacsidy Quarles ran fourth. Also taking fourth was the 200-meter relay team of Rodriguez, Jakiyah Oatts, Brown, and Aaliyah Bell.
In the field events, Smith took seventh, Carlie Hobson was ninth, and McGee was 10th in the discus while Hobson finished eighth in the shot put.
