Dazey powers Colonels past Paducah Tilghman

The Christian County Colonels won their fourth straight baseball game Friday with a 6-3 victory over visiting Paducah Tilghman on Alumni Night. 

The Colonels improved to 18-13 on the season while the Blue Tornado slipped to 17-11. 

Former Colonels’ players and coaches got to see an efficient game by Christian County. 

Paducah took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning as leadoff batter Hank James reached on an error. A sacrifice fly by Stone Crowe gave Paducah the lead. 

The Colonels took a 2-1 lead in the second as Gavin Mitchell singled and Sebastian Dazey walked. Both would come around to score. Dylan Sweeney had an RBI-single in the frame. 

Christian County opened the lead to 6-1 in the third inning. The big hit was a three-run home run over the left-field fence by Dazey. Mitchell also had a run-scoring single in the inning. 

Nolen Young started the game for Christian County and went two innings before giving way to Eddie Davis.  

Andrew Mayes entered in the fifth inning and Paducah. He walked RK Walker, who scored after a double byTD KIrkman to make it 6-2. 

The Blue Tornado struck for their final run in the sixth as Brendan Mira doubled to lead off the inning and scored on a passed ball. 

Dazey entered in the seventh inning and worked out of a jam to earn the save for the Colonels. 

Mitchell had a pair of hits for Christian County. Blake Boehman, Dazey, and Dylan Sweeney had the rest of the Colonels’ hits. 

Young earned the win, pitching two innings and striking out two. 

Christian County returns to action Tuesday night at home against No. 5-ranked McCracken County.
