No. 3 Blazers roll past Ryle at Tates Creek

University Heights Academy broke out their bats and walloped Ryle 11-1 in a high school baseball game Friday night at Lexington Tates Creek. 

AJ Hogart went 3-for-3 with a pair of triples and Hayden Hunt also had a triple and single to lead the Blazers’ 12-hit attack. 

UHA scored three runs in the top of the first using three singles and three walks. Jackson Flynn had a two-run hit and Jaiden Miles also had an RBI single in the frame. Flynn finished the night with four RBI. 

Miles started the game on the hill for UHA and went three innings, striking out three and allowing only one hit. Three Heights pitchers held the Raiders to only one hit in the game. Tim Hallmark and Cadence Gibson took the hill for UHA. 

The Blazers made it 8-0 in the top of the second as Flynn and Hogart had run-producing triples in the inning. Aiden Jones and Miles also had RBI singles. 

UHA pushed its lead to 11-0 in the fourth inning as Flynn had an RBI single. Hogart scored on a wild pitch and Jones also drove in a run with a groundout. 

Ryle finally got on the scoreboard in the fifth inning taking advantage of two walks and a hit batter.The Raiders scored on an errant pickoff attempt. 

The third-ranked Blazers improved to 24-4 on the season and return to action Saturday against Tates Creek at 11 a.m. and No. 24-ranked Scott County at 1:30 p.m. 

Ryle fell to 20-10 on the season. 

Flynn also went 3-for-3 in the game. Miles finished with a pair of hits and Hunt also had two hits. 

Miles picked up the pitching win for UHA.
