Franklin-Simpson rallies to knock off No. 3 Blazers

Franklin-Simpson scored four unanswered runs to defeat visiting University Heights Academy 4-3 Thursday night in a high school baseball game.  

UHA got off to a hot start, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. Hayden Hunt led off the game with a double and Cadence Gibson singled. A Wildcats’ error allowed Hunt to score and Gibson advanced to third on the same error. Courtland Gibson grounded out to score Cadence Gibson. 

The Blazers extended their lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning. Courtland Gibson walked and stole second base. He moved to third on a wild pitch and came around to score on Jackson Flynn’s groundout. 

Franklin-Simpson scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 3-3 and pushed across the go-ahead run in the fifth on a single by Carson Kelley. 

Hunt went 2-for-3 to lead the third-ranked Blazers (26-6), who travel to take on No. 4-ranked McCracken County tonight tp wrap up the regular season.
