Summer Shootout starts tonight at Lyle Dunbar Gym, Sportsplex

The 2026 Summer Shootout summer basketball event gets underway today at Christian County High School and the Planters Bank/Jennie Stuart Sportsplex. 

Action begins at 4 p.m. with both University Heights Academy and the new Christian County Tigers taking the court tonight. 

UHA opens play at 5 p.m. today against Webster County at Lyle Dunbar Gym. That game will be followed by Christian County playing host to Bowling Green, which is coached by former Hopkinsville High School girls’ coach and Caldwell County native D.G. Sherrill.  

The Christian County Lady Tigers open play at 6 p.m. today against Allen County Scottsville at the Sportsplex. 

Games will be played through Wednesday night and some games also will be played at Christian County Middle School on Tuesday night. 

Among the boys’ teams competing in the event are Marshall County, Clarksville Northwest, Caldwell County, Fort Campbell, Allen County-Scottsville, Bowling Green, Hopkins County Central, Warren Central, and McCracken County.

Some of the top players in the state also should be in attendance, including Marshall County’s Matthew Langhi, who averaged 27.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

Admission is $5.
