Former Hopkinsville High School basketball player Jamarion Sharp is getting an opportunity in the NBA.
The 7-foot-5 center turned in a solid showing in the Summer League with the Toronto Raptors and on Tuesday he signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, according to a report from NBA insider Michael Scotto.
The 24-year-old Sharp averaged 7.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks, which was ninth among all players in the Summer League.
Following his graduation at Hopkinsville High School, Sharp went to John A. Logan College before transferring to Western Kentucky where he played two seasons. He transferred to Ole Miss his senior season and was signed by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 Summer League.
Sharp has played the last two seasons in the G-League for the Texas Legends before being picked up by Toronto earlier this summer.
The former Hoptown Tiger was named G-League Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 4.1 blocks to go with 7.5 rebounds and 7.7 points per game. He also shot 73.5 percent through 39 appearances last season with the Legends.
A two-way contract is designed to give young or developing players the opportunity to gain NBA experience while also playing in the G-League. Players under these contracts can move between the NBA and G-League without going through waivers, and their pay adjusts based on the league they are assigned.
