The Christian County Tigers and Lady Tigers made their first official appearances on the soccer pitch as both teams played Friday night in the Bluegrass State Games in Lexington.
The Lady Tigers prevailed 3-0 over Letcher County. Aaliyah Bell, Kaydon Coats, and Carliah Hobson each scored a goal in the win.
Meanwhile, the Tigers played to a 1-1 tie with Somerset.
Erick Hernandez had the goal and Joseph Lopez provided the assist.
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to meet Boone County at 10 a.m. Saturday and Louisville Eastern at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Tigers will play Campbell County at 8:30 a.m. and George Rogers Clark at 2:30 p.m., Saturday.
University Heights Academy also is sending its girls’ and boys’ teams to the Bluegrass State Games.
The defending Region 2 champion Lady Blazers are in the Girls Varsity “C” Division and are scheduled to take on defending Region 14 champion Estill County at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The second game Saturday will feature the Lady Blazers against Mason County at 5:30 p.m. On Sunday, UHA will take on Louisville Male at 11:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, the defending Region 2 champion Blazers will compete in the Boys Varsity “B” Division and will play two games on Saturday. The first game is against Cooper at 10 a.m. and the second game will be against Franklin County at 4 p.m.
The Blazers will play one game on Sunday. UHA is scheduled to play Region 10 runner-up Montgomery County at 10 a.m.
