The city of Crofton now has two athletes who have earned national recognition this summer.
Jordan Starks represented Team USA at the Taekwondo International World Cup Championships earlier this month in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. More than 530 competitors from 19 countries were in the tournament.
Starks competed in the 16-17-year-old Male Division and earned second place in the Three-Person Tag Team Sparring, fourth place in the Individual Point Sparring, and fifth place in Traditional Patterns.
Starks attends Heritage Christian Academy and was the only athlete from Kentucky selected to represent Team USA at this year’s World Cup Championships.
Starks is a recommended third-degree black belt and has trained in Taekwondo for 10 years. He began his training at Hopkinsville Martial Arts, then moved to Song’s Taekwondo to train for Team USA under Grand Master Song Brown.
Starks trains three to five days each week and travels on weekends for tournaments for additional training.
Earlier this month, Courtney Baker, of Crofton, helped the United States women’s sitting volleyball team win the 2026 ParaVolley World Championship in China.
