Blazers’ cross-country team finishes 12th at State meet

University Heights Academy’s cross country team followed up on its Class 1-A, Region 1 championship last weekend by taking 12th place in the KHSAA Boys’ Class 1-A Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Lexington.

The Blazers missed out on a top-10 finish by only 27 points with a score of 363.

Graham Conrad led half of the race and led UHA by crossed the finish line 37th overall in a time of 18:10. Conrad led for the first half mile of the 3.1-mile race.

Meanwhile, junior Jude Finch set the school record with his fifth appearance at the state meet and took 57th in 18:42. It was his best finish at the state tournament as he knocked 30 seconds off his state time from 2024.

Eighth-grader Ronan Croney-Sallie finished 71st overall with a time of 19:04. Zech Davis had a personal-best time of 19:50 to finish 114th. Eighth-grader Scar Venable also had an impressive race as he took 138th place in 20:08.

Freshman Garret Bowling ran a 21:14 to finish 196th and Hayden Hayes had a personl-best time of 21:29 to finish 206th.

UHA finished one point ahead of Fort Campbell.

Louisville Collegiate scored 69 points to claim the title, followed by St. Henry (136) and Beechwood (193).
