Blazers take 5th, Lady Blazers 10th in Area 1 Championship

It was a big day for University Heights Academy’s Emma Dill and Griffin McCoy Saturday at the Area 1 Championship track meet at Henderson County High School.

Led by McCoy and the strong performances of their relay teams, the Blazers finished fifth as a team.

McCoy ran second in the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.41 seconds and third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.34 seconds.

Tobias Duncan was fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:04.51.

Two Blazers scored in the 800-meter run with Cole Glover finishing third and Graham Conrad taking fourth in 5:01.28 and 5:03.44, respectively.

Logan Miller ran fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.94 seconds. Jude Finch also earned a point for UHA by taking eighth in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:48.

Three Blazer relay teams earned bronze medals on the day. The 200-meter relay team of Chase Lester, McCoy, Miller, and Harlow Hampton finished in 1:33.50. The 400-meter relay team of Duncan, Lester, Miller, and Hampton ran in a time of 3:38.42 and the 800-meter relay team of Duncan, Hampton, Lester, and Zech Davis crossed the finish line in 8:36.80.

Fort Campbell won the boys’ meet with 99 points, followed by Henderson County (77), and Caldwell County (72). UHA finished with 67 points.

In the girls’ meet, Dill finished second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.30 seconds. She also was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.38 seconds.

Ajae Oatts took fourth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.79 seconds.

The Lady Blazers’ 400-meter relay team of Aliviah Acree, Dill, Palin Hampton, and Oatts finished fourth in 4:36.72.

UHA finished 10th as a team in the girls’ meet. Calloway County dominated the girls’ meet with 202 points, followed by Ballard Memorial with 57.5 points and Hopkinsville (56).
