CCHS bowling team makes history at region tournament

The Christian County High School Colonels’ bowling team made history Wednesday at the Region 1 Bowling Tournament at Southern Lanes at Bowling Green.

The Colonels’ boys’ team finished fourth out of 19 teams. It is the highest regional finish in the four years of the program.

In addition, Christian Lane and Kane DeGiulio won the Region 1 Unified Division and qualified for the KHSAA State Bowling Tournament. The pair, who were region runner-up last year, become the first region bowling champions at either Christian County or Hopkinsville high schools.

In singles competition, Lane qualified eighth with a three-game total of 626 and earned a spot to go to a regional all-star tournament later this year. In the round of eight, Lane also rolled games of 162 and 199. It is the second straight year that Lane has earned a top-eight finish at the regional tournament.

Jaxon Hall rolled a 508 series and Michael DeArmond had a 428 series. Brycen Newcom also rolled a 423 for Christian County at the regional tournament.
