A large crowd is expected to fill Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium Friday night for the final basketball games between Hoptown and County at the Colonels’ home gym.
The two schools will consolidate this fall. Christian County Public Schools Activities Director Kerry Stovall appeared on the Early Bird Show this week and said saying the word “last” makes it real.
The Lady Colonels and Lady Tigers will tangle at 6 p.m. in a District 8 game. Christian County is 5-6 overall while Hopkinsville is 1-8.
Airtime for the girls’ game is 5:45 p.m. with the Christian County broadcast on 95.3 the Farm and 953thefarm.com. The Hopkinsville broadcast will be on Newsradio 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP.
After the girls’ game, the 2026 Christian County High School Hall of Fame class will be introduced. Headlining the group are the 2004 state baseball championship team and the 2011 state basketball tournament championship team.
Stovall, who coached the Colonels’ state basketball title team, said excitement was building around the game and the hall of fame ceremony.
About 20 minutes after the Hall of Fame recognition, the boys’ game will tip off around 8 p.m. The Christian County broadcast will air around 7:45 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com. The Hopkinsville broadcast will air around 7:45 p.m. on Newsradio 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP.
Christian County enters the game at 6-5 and 0-0 in District 8. Hoptown is 8-7 overall and 1-0 in district play.
Fans are reminded that no bags are allowed into the gym and all elementary and middle school students must be accompanied by an adult.
