CCHS sweeps visiting Lyon County in tennis

The Christian County High School tennis team swept a girls’/boys’ match with visiting Lyon County Thursday afternoon in windy conditions at the Ruff Park tennis courts. 

The Lady Colonels won all three singles matches on the way to a 4-0 win over the Lady Lyons. Molly Cansler, Addison Peck, and Lacey Paige picked up singles wins. 

The doubles team of Peck and Ashlea Russell won the only doubles match for the Lady Colonels. 

In the boys’ match, the Colonels’ Cooper Fort took a 6-0, 6-0 singles win over Jaise Riley and led Christian County to a 4-0 win. 

Noah Davis and Jefferey Joiner also picked up singles wins for the Colonels.  

Fort and Davis teamed up to win the lone doubles match 8-1.

Girls: Singles – Cansler (CC) def. Ashleigh Cook 8-6, 6-3; Peck (CC) def. Bridget Ellisworth 8-3; Paige (CC) def. Becka Neighbors 8-1. Doubles – Peck/Russell (CC) def. Ellisworth/Neighbors 8-1. Boys: Singles – Fort (CC) def. Riley 6-0, 6-0; Davis (CC) def. Sebastian Villanueva 8-3; Joiner (CC) def. Joe Ellisworth 8-0. Doubles – Fort/Davis (CC) def. Riley/Villanueva 8-1.
