Thomas More College is getting more than athlete in Christian County High School’s Aiden Lewis.
The senior three-sport start at Christian County, committed to bowl at Thomas More College next season.
However, even more impressive than his athletics skills, Lewis will graduate this spring from high school and already will have enough credits to have his Associate Degree from Hopkinsville Community College.
Lewis began taking classes at HCC as part of the Early College Program the summer of his sophomore year at CCHS and will have 60 hours at the conclusion of this semester.
He says it’s been a challenge to balance his athletics and his schoolwork, but the hard work is paying off now.
Lewis played golf last fall for the Colonels and was on the bowling team during the winter. In addition, he continued to condition for baseball and now is enjoying his senior season on the baseball diamond with the Colonels.
He is hitting .321 with five doubles and 11 RBI this season.
Lewis said he had to learn to budget his time so he could balance athletics with academics.
Lewis said the advisors at Thomas More were surprised when they learned that he already had so many college hours under his belt.
Lewis plans to major in business administration and minor in sports analytics and hopes that the school’s proximity to Cincinnati will help him in his career path.
He says other high school students shouldn’t be intimidated by the process of taking college classes. He hopes some of his younger teammates will see what he’s done and follow his lead.
In addition to bowling, Lewis said he has met with the baseball coach and will be trying to walk-on to the Thomas More team next spring.
