CCHS’s Miller earns 4th-place finish at Girls’ KHSAA State Wrestling Tournament

Christian County High School’s Avah Miller earned a fourth-place finish in the Girls’ KHSAA State Wrestling Tournament over the weekend at Alltech Arena in Lexington.

Miller, a sophomore, went 4-2 in the tournament and fell to Bell County’s McKenzie Webb 14-8 in the third-place match. Webb had defeated Miller 1-0 in their winner’s bracket quarterfinal match earlier in the tournament.

Lexington Lafayette won the team title with 120 points, followed by Boyle County (113.5), and Woodford County (64.5).

Miller’s brother, Dane, finished eighth in the 144-pound division Friday in the Boys’ KHSAA State Wrestling Tournament.

Saturday’s conclusion of the tournament ended the highly successful wrestling programs at Hopkinsville High School and Christian County. The Tigers earned state titles in 1985, 1986, and 1992 and had numerous top 10 finishes in the 1990s. The Colonels had a state title in 1987 and also had numerous top 10 finishes over the years.

The two programs will consolidate with the new Christian County High School for the 2026-27 season.
