Christian County’s Avery Adcock win Player of the Week

This week’s Jennie Stuart Orthopedic – Michael Venable State Farm Player of the Week is Avery Adcock.

Avery is a junior at Christian County High School and is also a member of the Lady Colonel softball team.

This past October, Adcock verbally committed to Missouri to play Division 1 softball, and this season she has continued to prove why she is a power-five level player.

With a few games left in the regular season, Avery has 48 hits, 27 RBI, and 8 home runs, all in 92 at-bats.

She also leads the team with 18 stolen bases and is batting an average of .522 while only striking out 6 times.

Adcock says the inception of her softball career started at a young age with her playing baseball and has taken off ever since.

She went on to say that her competitive drive was one of the reasons she has continued to play the sport.

As she mentioned, softball has given Avery a chance to travel most of the southeastern parts of the country.

She further discussed her travel ball experience and how it has helped her.

With softball, Adcock finds herself not having much free time outside of the sport throughout the year.

However, she insists that it is a sacrifice she is more than willing to take.

So far this season, the Lady Colonels have put up a record of 19-12 while being undefeated in district play and 11-3 against fellow 2nd Region opponents.

For Adcock however, she isn’t particularly satisfied with the teams regular season performance.

While not having the regular season that she may have wanted for her team, Avery and the rest of her teammates are heavy favorites in the 8th district tournament and are looking to make a splash in the region tournament as well.

Sheri Hancock, the head coach of the Lady Colonel softball team also gave her thoughts when asked about Avery as a player and even talked about a performance she had in a recent win against Lyon Co.

As far as Avery’s leadership, Hancock went on to explain how strong it is among the team.

To conclude her interview, Avery shared what her favorite part about the sport of softball is.
