Cold second quarter dooms Blazers at Henderson

A cold-shooting second quarter helped send visiting University Heights Academy to a 76-53 boys’ high school basketball loss to Henderson County Monday night.

The Blazers (1-3) jumped out to an 11-4 lead but the Colonels (4-1) came back to cut the lead to 16-13 after the first quarter.

Henderson outscored UHA 20-8 in the second quarter to take a 33-24 halftime lead. The Colonels kept their foot on the gas in the third quarter, pushing the advantage to 55-37.

Keshawn Moore led the Blazers in scoring with 21 points. Ryan Luckey added 13.

Amare Stewart had 15 points and Xavion Johnson added 14 for the Colonels.

UHA returns to action Thursday night at home against Dawson Springs.
