Colonels earn 2nd-place finish at Muhlenberg invite

Kristen Johnson had an impressive day for the Christian County Colonels track team Saturday at the Muhlenberg Invitational.

Johnson won the 100-meter dash (11.15 seconds), took second in the 200-meter dash (22.37 seconds), and finished fourth in the 400-meter dash (54.57 seconds).

Johnson’s performance powered the Colonels to a second-place finish in the team competition. Paducah Tilghman won the boys’ meet with 86 points, with Christian County finishing second (76) and Hopkinsville third (69).

Satona Bailey finished second in the 100-meter dash (11.27) and fourth in the 200-meter dash (22.95).

The Colonels’ relay teams also had a strong day as the 200-meter team took first place in 1:34.72. The 400-meter team was third in 3:49.04 and the 800-meter team also took fourth in 9:33.70.

CJ McCarley also had an impressive showing for the Colonels as the senior took second place in the shot put with a throw of 45 feet, 7.5 inches and second in the discus with a toss of 139 feet, 1 inch.

For the Lady Colonels, Symeria Brown earned a bronze finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:08.93.

Owensboro won the girls’ meet with 117 points, followed by Ballard Memorial (75), and Owensboro Catholic (72.5). The Lady Tigers finished 10th with 23 points.
