Colonels face tough task at Paducah Tilghman

The Christian County Colonels’ football team faces a difficult task to close out their final regular season as they travel to take on the Paducah Tilghman Blue Tornado tonight.

The Colonels enter the game at 1-8 on the season and have lost four straight games. Paducah is 8-1 and has won five in a row. The Blue Tornado also are ranked No. 6 in Class 4-A in the latest Bluegrasspreps.com.

Paducah quarterback Stone Crowe leads the state in passing with 2,393 yards and 28 touchdowns. He has two targets, Avery Thompson and Cameron Wade, who have more than 700 yards receiving this season.

The Blue Tornado also have 6-foot-6, 300-pounder Jarvis Strickland anchoring their offensive line. Strickland has committed to the University of Louisville.

Christian County Interim Head Coach Kelly Myers knows his Colonels have an uphill battle against Paducah.

Christian County will be missing its leading rusher, Deasian Harris, tonight. The bruising running back picked up two misconduct penalties last week against Hopkinsville and cannot play tonight. Paul Abren, Tristin Dillard, and Chy Harris are going to be counted on to lead the Colonels’ rushing attack.

The Colonels also have several offensive linemen out with injuries this week.

Paducah averages 44.4 points per game and only gives up 18.2 points per contest. Meanwhile, Christian County scores about 16.5 points per game and allows more than 53 per game.

This is the 23rd meeting in the series. Paducah leads 13-9.

Kickoff tonight is at 7 p.m. with airtime set for 6:30 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
