Colonels get defensive, roll past Kenwood on Alumni Night

The Christian County Colonels put on an impressive defensive performance in front of basketball alumni as they defeated visiting Kenwood 56-43 Friday night in a boys’ high school basketball game.

The Colonels had six blocked shots in the first quarter and set the defensive tone. Meanwhile, Zion Acree and Rahsean Stevenson both poured in 16 points to pace the Colonels’ offense.

Acree banked in a shot at the first-quarter buzzer to give the Colonels a 13-10 lead and the hosts never looked back, stretching their advantage to 29-16 at halftime.

Christian County (1-1) led by as many as 21 points in the second half before the Knights (0-4) chipped away, getting as close as the final score.

Jay Henderson added nine points for the Colonels, who are back in action Monday night in a girls’/boys’ doubleheader at Lyle Dunbar Gym. Airtime if 5:45 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
