Christian County scored 10 runs in the fifth inning and defeated Franklin-Simpson 12-5 in a high school baseball game Wednesday in Panama City Beach.
The Wildcats led 5-2 entering the fifth inning after scoring three runs in the first and two in the second. The Colonels scored solo runs in the top of the first and second innings.
In the fifth inning, the Colonels had five straight hits to open the frame. Dylan Sweeney and Gage Montes had doubles in the streak. Chase Fort added another double later in the inning as Christian County broke open the game using eight hits and taking advantage of three walks in the inning.
Fort and Sweeney both went 3-for-4 and Eddie Davis slammed a home run and single.
Montes had a double and single and Jonathan Lewis added a pair of hits for the Colonels (7-7).
Montes also picked up the pitching win, going six innings, striking out six and walking three.
Christian County is scheduled to play Marshall County at 10 a.m. today in Panama City Beach.
