Colonels win Fast Times at Mayfield invite; Lady Cols take 5th

The Christian County High School track team displayed its power on Saturday at the Fast Times at Mayfield Invitational.

The Colonels took first place in the boys’ meet, just ahead of Calloway County and University Heights Academy.

CJ McCarley was impressive earning first place in the Discus with a toss of 161-feet, 3-inches. He also won the Shot Put with a toss of 51-feet, 1-inch.

The Colonels’ relay teams also showed out, winning the 100-meter Throwers race, the 200-meter relay and taking second place in the 400-meter relay and 800-meter relay races.

Kristen Johnson broke the tape in the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash and took second to teammate Satona Bailey in the 100-meter dash. Bailey also took second in the 200-meter dash to Johnson and was fourth in the 400-meter dash.

Wyatt Fleming registered a runner-up finish in the 400-meter dash to Johnson.

Cayden Cline also picked up a silver medal, taking second in the 1,600-meter run. Jordan Morton was second in the Long Jump with a leap of 19-feet, 7-inches.

Other top 10 performances for the Colonels included Paul Grace (5th in 200-meter dash, 8th, 100-meter dash), Max Ray (5th in 400-meter dash), Lucas Coates (6th in 3,200-meter run), Bryce Hamlin (9th in 3,200-meter run), 100-meter relay team (4th), Marlee Reeves (4th in Long Jump), and Jimmarion Byrd (10th in Shot put).

For the Lady Colonels, Symeria Brown won a pair of gold medals.

Brown won the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash.

The Lady Colonels’ 200-meter relay team was third.

Other top 10 performances for the Lady Colonels included Jasmyn Rodriguez (9th in 100-meter dash), Kaliyah Leavell (9th in 200-meter dash), Aliyah Bell (7th in the 400-meter dash and 10th in the 200-meter dash), Lilly Collins (7th in the 1,600-meter run and 8th in the 800-meter run), and the 4×100-meter relay team (5th).

The Lady Colonels finished fifth overall. Calloway County won the girls’ event followed by Ballard Memorial and Madisonville-North Hopkins.
