The Christian County High School boys’ cross country team battled warm and windy conditions to complete its season Saturday at the 2024 Kentucky Beef Council Cross Country State Championships at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
Senior Michael Webb paced the Colonels by finishing 154th in the Class 3-A meet. Webb’s time was 18:19.06, just ahead of teammate Wyatt Fleming, who took 181st in 18:36.03.
The two runners helped the Colonels’ team finish 34th in the team standings.
Other Colonels running included Rex Taggart (196, 18:53.54), JT Miles (229, 19:20.95), Joseph Parker (247, 19:56.37), Bryce Hamlin (253, 20:06.14), and Lucas Coates (273, 20:48.59).
Paul Van Lanningham, of Cooper, won the individual Class 3-A boys’ race in a time of 15:19.87.
Lexington Lafayette claimed the team championship with 85 points. Louisville Trinity was runner-up with 112 and Oldham County was third with 173 points.
Meanwhile, Christian County senior Taylor Morris finished her career in the girls’ Class 3-A state meet. She took 140th place in a time of 21:57.72.
Woodford County’s Addison Moore won the meet in a time of 18:06.82.
Louisville Assumption won the team title with 56 points, easily ahead of Louisville DuPont Manual (136) and North Oldham (154).
