The dates, times, and bracket for the District 8 basketball tournaments will become official on Thursday morning.
The girls’ District 8 meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. and the boys’ District 8 meeting will follow about 9:30 a.m.
The matchups are known for the girls’ District 8 Tournament as Christian County is the top seed with a 16-9 overall record and 3-0 district mark. Hopkinsville is the No. 2 seed at 8-11. The Lady Tigers are 1-1 in district play and will take on the No. 3 seed Fort Campbell, who is 7-11 and 0-2 in the district.
The winner of the Lady Tigers-Lady Falcons game will meet Christian County in the final.
The boys’ District 8 tournament is a little more complex as Christian County, Hopkinsville and University Heights Academy are tied for the top spot in the standings.
The seeds will be determined by the teams’ RPI. Currently, the Tigers (13-14, 3-1) would be the No. 1 seed, followed by UHA (9-11, 3-1) and Christian County (5-21, 3-1).
What is already known is that Heritage Christian Academy (9-17, 1-3) will be the No. 4 seed and will play fifth seed Fort Campbell (3-23, 0-4) in the opening game. The winner will meet the No. 1 seed in the semifinals.
The No. 2 and No. 3 seeds will meet in the other semifinal contest.
The District 8 tournaments will be played at Hopkinsville High School and are expected to start Monday night.
