Former Hopkinsville High School basketball player Jamarion Sharp has earned the top defensive honor in the NBA G League.
Sharp, a 7-foot-5 center, was named the 2025-26 Kia NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year, which was announced by the league on Thursday.
In his second season with the Texas Legends, Sharp appeared in 25 regular season games. He started 16 of those games and averaged 7.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks per game. He also shot a league-best 73.5 percent from the field.
Sharp graduated from Hopkinsville High School and signed with John A. Logan Junior College and later signed with Western Kentucky University. He was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year in 2022 and 2023 with the Hilltoppers. He transferred to Ole Miss to complete his college career in 2024.
