Trigg County High School will be searching for a new varsity football coach after Chris Ezell announced his resignation this morning on social media.
Ezell said on his Facebook page that he had decided to step down, but it wasn’t an easy decision.
“This has not been an easy decision to make but one I feel is necessary. I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to coach the young men of Trigg County but it is time for someone else to assume leadership of the program,” Ezell said.
Ezell took over for Mark Peach following the 2020 season and had a 19-33 record in five seasons in Cadiz. His best season came in 2022 when the Wildcats went 7-4.
“I want to thank those who support our young men,” Ezell said on Facebook. “Trigg County is a special place with great, caring people. This will always be the place that gave me an opportunity to lead a program. We broke multiple individual records in the last five seasons and 2022 was a special season that I will always remember.”
Ezell is the brother of Hopkinsville High School Athletic Director, Jacob Ezell.
