Falcons hand Heritage Christian district baseball loss

The Fort Campbell Falcons picked up their first high school baseball win in their renovated park on Tuesday night and more importantly earned a 5-2 District 8 victory over Heritage Christian Academy.

The Warriors started Jaiden Nichols on the mound, but he ran into trouble in the third inning as he gave up three straight singles. A hit batsman and an error helped the Falcons take a 3-0 lead.

HCA (3-7, 0-2) got two runs back in the top of the fourth as Ethan Miles led off with a double. After an error, Collin Outland singled and Miles and pinch runner Aaron Hensley scored.

But the Falcons were able to score single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to earn the victory and improve to 2-9 overall and 1-3 in District 8 play. The win also broke a seven-game losing streak for Fort Campbell.

Miles led the Warriors at the plate with a double and single.

Nichols suffered the pitching loss, striking out seven and walking two over 5 2/3 innings.

HCA returns to action Thursday at home against Todd County Central.
