A year after finishing third in the state in scoring, University Heights Academy senior guard Tylin George has left the Hopkinsville private school and enrolled at Moravian Prep School in North Carolina.
George’s mother, Tiesha Dillard, confirmed to WHOP on Monday evening that she had enrolled her son at the school and dropped him off on Monday.
George averaged 31.3 points and 8.1 rebounds per game last year for the Blazers, who were upset by Christian County in the first round of the District 8 tournament.
The 6-foot-4 guard told WHOP in a text message on Monday night that he wanted to go to Moravian Prep “to play the best on the biggest stage” and he was hoping to improve his defense this season.
In addition, George will play for the YNG Dreamerz, a professional basketball team competing in the Overtime Elite league. The league is for high school-aged basketball players in Atlanta.
Moravian Prep has a partnership with Overtime Elite that allows players from the prep school to compete in the league while maintaining their amateur status and college eligibility. This differs from the original OTE model, which paid players and required them to forfeit their NCAA eligibility.
