Cal Given’s goal under 4:00 remaining sent University Heights Academy to a 2-1 win over Trigg County in the quarterfinals of the Boys’ Region 2 Soccer Tournament Monday night in Henderson.
Hayden Hunt scored in the first half off a corner kick from Graham Conrad and UHA led 1-0 at the break. Trigg tied the game in the second half on their only shot attempt.
Hayden Fitzsimmons had three saves in goal to pick up the win in goal.
UHA improved to 16-6 and will take on Madisonville-North Hopkins at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday night in the semifinals. The Maroons escaped Webster County 3-2 in the second quarterfinal match Monday.
Hopkinsville opens Region 2 tournament play tonight at 7:45 against Hopkins County Central. Henderson County plays Lyon County in the first game at 5:45 p.m.
