Two of the top Region 2 girls’ basketball teams faced off in Henderson County Thursday night and it was the host Lady Colonels who held off Christian County 47-40.
The game was close throughout with Henderson leading 10-7 after one quarter.
The defensive effort by both teams continued in the second period, but Brooklyn Gibson had five of her 11 points and helped Henderson take a 22-13 halftime advantage.
Na’Vaeh Day kept Christian County close in the third quarter, as the senior dropped eight of her 15 points. However, Henderson closed out the third with a 37-27 advantage.
Anaysia Bagwell hit a pair of 3-pointers and Lazarie Daniel added a long-range bomb in the fourth, but Christian County wasn’t able to cut into the Henderson lead much.
Day had 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead Christian County (2-2). Daniel added 10 points.
Henderson (3-1) was paced by A’Tylia Green’s 13 points.
Christian County returns to action tonight at 7 p.m. on the Toyota of Hopkinsville Holiday Hoops Classic at Hopkinsville High School against Graves County. The F&M Bank Pregame show will air at 6:45 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm.
